Description
A graceful feathery palm that sells well because it looks great small and fresh, then often struggles indoors once light and humidity fall short. It is a real palm, but it behaves more like a high-maintenance compromise indoors than an easy background plant.
Care
- Light: Needs strong light indoors to hold decent color and density.
- Water: Keep it evenly moist, not bone dry and not waterlogged.
- Soil & potting: Rich, draining mix with a pot that does not stay soggy.
- Humidity & temperature: Wants higher humidity than many homes provide.
- Feeding: Feed lightly during active growth.
- Repotting / propagation: Decline indoors is often environmental, not just pot size.
Propagation
Usually grown from seed. It is not a simple division plant the way clumping palms sometimes are, which is one reason home propagation is uncommon. See Propagation Basics.
Toxicity
Generally treated as pet-safe and widely listed as non-toxic to cats and dogs.
